Sample Arrived - and Decision time

Ok, I am writing on a high, I just came back form the hairdresser, so my hair is looking SUPER FABULOUS after I finally got around to getting it done, cut, colour, highlights and all.

And then I get home and the sample shirt I ordered from the internet for a possible collaboration collection with my brother arrives, and it looks AWESOME!

This has inspired me to properly sit down and make the final decision on my side of the collection - the Jewellery.

I have had the struggle of what do when it comes to my jewellery, with pricing and quality and how many designs, I can make a 100 designs and be caught on which to produce, but that adds in cost.

But the hardest decision has been, what kind of jewellery do I make, a cheaper larger range of jewellery, that will be cheap but not as high in quality and will not last as long, but I can make a larger range and more people can afford?

OR

Do I make a small set range, of quality materials such as silver, high quality crystals, pearls, KT and gemstones etc,  but will be higher in price and less people will probably buy.

I have been mulling it over, but I have finally come to the decision, and it all has to do with the vision of where I could see my pieces being sold, and its in high end city boutiques.

And high end city boutiques don't sell cheap crap that falls apart.

I want to make pieces that Carrie Bradshaw would be proud of.

I am going to leave the cheap 20 pieces to the chain stores who do it best, they make enough of the pieces you buy that fall apart and lose their colour in a few weeks for anyone out there looking for a cheap fix, I want timeless pieces that can be passed on as gifts, pieces that make stop and imagine with the perfect outfit.

So this is it, I am off to start my collection of 20 pieces, hopefully ready to be launched

a cup of coffee while I am sketching new ideas for designs. Using old pieces I had created in the past and and some of my mums chunky gold bold pieces for inspiration for new pieces to sketch.

I have no idea when I will be making these actual drawings come to life, it could be months it could be years, but I have to draw them and store them ...

Edward De Lacy

I received it about a week and a half ago but better late then never right!

This beautiful leather diary is what I bought myself on Etsy for myself for my Christmas/Birthday present for myself.

Handmade in Manchester - England, from cream leather it is sooo gorgeous I had been swooning over it for months, however when I finally went to buy it, it was gone, but the wonderful Mr de Lacy made me another with my initials embossed neatly in the corner.

Womens Cufflinks

Looking at images on Google for womens cufflinks, I get a sense that yes womens cufflinks are out there, the variety is alright, but I have to say the lack of women wearing them is down to the lack of shirts made for women to wear them being sold in the market.

Think about it, when was the last time you saw a shirt that could be worn casually ( but  not business) with cufflinks.

I wonder if I should buy a shirt with a cuff and cut out the button and make an extra slit, make a pair of cufflinks and see how it all looks, its an idea......

Feeling Very Olsen

I went shopping with my Nan a few days ago, did not intend to go shopping and buy up but hey it was a nice surprise and I couldn't resist.

I got a fantastic bustle jersey skirt, a soft stussy linen shirt, a pair of leather Gallo ( haven't heard much about the brand) shoes that are sooooo comfortable and soft I could wear them all day. I got $330 worth of Model Co make up for about $45.

I also popped over to a friend of mines new temporary thrift shop and was able to get a great Country Road Singlet and sleeveless black vest kind of jacket with drapes that kind of match the bustle skirt.

I must say I am feeling very Olsen with my latest buys ...

DANGER DANGER !!!!!!!

I am the kind of girl who doesn't change her bag for like at least 3 months all the way up to like 9 months, I just don't see the point to having to go swapping everything and pulling it all out every few days or weeks.

I mean if I am going out to a special dinner, I will choose the appropriate  clutch or dinner bag, otherwise I am happy to keep the same bag for quite a while, my whole world of everything I need is in my bag and I can safely grab my bag and run out the door with the full knowledge that it is all in there.

That is why I also tend to go for neutral bag colours, so they go with everything I would possibly want to wear, I also love a decent sized bag too.

Anyway as I went looking through Etsy for a good unique handbag, I like the idea of having something unique and limited edition, but I can't afford luxury designer, and I think if I am going to pay a decent price, it might as well be a good quality leather item that is made by someone so I am supporting someone who a hard working designer even if they are not Vogue Famous, and I am still getting my Limited Edition quality item.

And that is how I stumbled apon Paulina Carcach.

Not only are her bags AMAZING, but I actually went to her website, and saw an amazing link called - DESIGN YOUR OWN.

I may be in trouble here people.....

what I saw, is what I now want

Floretta Clutch by Suzy Smith London

I saw this today at my local strandbags store and something about it just made me want it sooo bad.
Its a perfect summer bag, neutral in colour, but not a starchy white, a lovely soft feminine pattern and is big enough to fit your wallet, sunnies and phone + lippy and other small essential.

Did I mention the inside is a wonderful bright blue, so you can easily see what is inside your bag.

Fashion Bucket List - Richard Weston

Blue Forest Scarf - Blue abstract forest print featuring unfinished, frayed edges.

Yellow Agate and Forest Print Scarf - wool and silk mix

Pyrite on Azurite Printed Scarf - silk and wool mix

So as a designer and business person in the making... I love watching shows about business or fashion, especially business and fashion. I was lucky enough to be able to find out about and watch a wonderful show on the ABC a few months back about ' The next Big Thing' a British show on emerging designers and inventors.

There were many wonderful talented people but my favourite was Richard Weston, a lovely down to earth creative man, that had thought to try something different and scan natural rocks and enlarge the patterns, creating a wonderful pattern of unique colours and shapes and print them on to scarves.

I fell in love with his designs the minute I found out about them and I have vowed to visit Liberty one day and buy one (or many) of his designs, I must get a scarf.

His scarves are massive and can be worn at the beach tied around the waist or would look fantastic under a black jacket in winter.
